From the hilltop there are breathtaking views overlooking the Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana and, walking along the streets, beautiful noble palaces and churches. To get there from Siena, we go through the Crete Senesi, where snaking rows of cypress trees rise up in a landscape of gentle gray-yellow hills and wide grasslands.

On the way we cannot miss Pienza, the Ideal town of Renaissance architecture but even more important for those who like food, the birthplace of the “pecorino” cheese (made from sheep’s milk) …Yum! Yum! ….we can go to visit a cheese factory and taste the local production together with the typical jams and local honey.

The Nobile di Montepulciano is produced in this region since from the Middle Ages and it’s a blend of traditional Tuscan grapes like” Prugnolo gentile” and Canaiolo. To this day, lots of underground cellars are in the historical centre and to visit them could be the best combination to enjoy wine and history.
